just your average thursday.

Today's agenda?

Breakfast in the car. Gym. Story time at the library. Lunch. Naps. Laundry. Play.

Zane came down stairs this morning with two bears, Oatmeal and Bear Bear. We always sing a song about what everyone is wearing at story time, and Zane decided to wear his bear t-shirt. The first thing he said when we got there was, "I want to sing about my bear t-shirt!" And when it came his turn,"I want to sing about my new kangaroo shoes!" This is not the first time he's changed his mind last minute. Just like Matt at a restaurant.

He came downstairs after his nap (which I have a sneaking suspicion was more "playtime in his bed" and less "sleep") wearing this outfit. He looks so cute. Inside out, long-sleeved shirt, gloves, boots, hat. And today's record-breaking high is 103. Just another outfit of the day.

This sweet girl wore her precious dress. It did have a flower on it pre-nap. She apparently tore it off while playing in her crib. Nothing a little hot glue can't fix. She got up on all fours and rocked back and forth several times at the library. She'll be crawling soon. Zane can't wait.

early mornings.

6am. We hear baby noises on the monitor. I grunt. Matt says, "Already? What do you want to do?"

"I got up at 10:30 and 4. Your turn."

"You want me to fix her a bottle?"

"Sure. Wait, no. She's just talking and playing. Just let her play awhile. Maybe she'll go back to sleep."

6:17am. Zane's door opens. This can't be good. He usually sleeps until at 7:30 or 8. Sometimes 8:30. So getting up this early equals bad mood by 11.

And then the sweetest sounds ever. Zane talking to Hollin and her laughing. Belly laughs.

Matt and I look at the monitor and can see Zane at the end of her crib playing peek a boo. And then making funny faces. You know the song about the little green frog? Mm Nn went the little green frog one day. Where you close your eyes and then stick out your tongue? That's the faces he was making. And she was so tickled. I wish I had it on video. I hope I actually remember it in ten years and it's not just something I read about.

We decided to just let them play for awhile. And by 7am, there was a dance party going on in our bed.

I don't like to get up early. But sometimes it's worth it.

Zane, 3.5

"I not three anymore. I three and a haaalf. I got new shoes and they make me real fast." This is what he told one of the caregivers at the gym this morning. And several people at the grocery store. And anyone else willing to listen. He's three and a half. And proud of it.

What makes you so fast?

"See those bwack things on my shoes? They make me fast!"

He's still a cowboy. He's a great helper and likes to ask, "I doing a great job?"

Lately, he's been all about superheroes. Superman, Batman, Spiderman. He loves wearing capes. He told me, "Costumes are for morning time." I don't even know how he knows about superheroes. I guess it's just a gene that little boys are born with.

He still takes an afternoon nap. Anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours long! Typically it's around 2 hours, but I know he's not ready to drop his nap. Neither am I. I've actually gotten both kids down for naps at the exact.same.time the past two days. Toot Toot! (That was me tooting my own horn.)

It gets dark really late here. Like, almost 10 o'clock. So after bathtime, he puts on his "man lotion" and his jammies (or his boxers or 'nunnerwears', like a mans) and gets in our bed to play on the ipad for a little while. It's dark in our room, so he doesn't realize he's going to bed when it's still 'morning time'. According to him, anytime the sun is up is morning time. After he 'plays ipad' for awhile, he'll lay with us for a minute, and then he'll say, "I wanna go to my bed now."

A few of my favorite quotes:
"That is a TEH-wibble i-dee-uh."
"That DEFinitely won't work."
"No, that too dangerwous."

He still says he's from "Missconsin", but knows that his old house is in Ah-kansas. He asked if it was in DeeDee's Ah-kansas or Nana's Ah-kansas. Sometimes when we're driving, he'll ask me what Missconsin we in now? Which means 'what town are we in?'.

He's still a fantastic big brother. He's amazed that Baby Hollin now has two teeth. He asked, "Can her walk now? Can her pway?"

I love this kid. He's so sweet. And so funny. And big. He's three and a haaalf!

A + L....The Reception

After the wedding, we all headed to Camp Winnamocka for the reception. Zane spotted the cake as soon as we got there. Once he had cake on the brain, he couldn't think about anything else....just like his mom. It was tough to convince him that we had to wait on Bob and Gigi to cut the cake.

So we waited.

And waited.

And took a few pics.

And then the DJ said that everyone should go out onto the deck.

Yes. Yes, that is a pirate ship that you see. With a bride and groom on it. You know, just your average entrance as Mr. & Mrs.

How fun is this? They didn't tell anyone what they had up their sleeves!

They promptly cut the cake just to make this little three year old happy.

How eager is he to get a piece?!

Mmmmm! I think he approved!
The handsome groom with Aunt Debbie and Aunt Pat.

After getting baby spit up and hairspray stains on my dress, I decided to change into more comfy clothes for the rest of the reception.

This was a fun group of girls!

The first dance
Toasting
Fun faces!
Congratulations, Lee and Amanda! You are a beautiful couple. You light up the room and always know how to have a good time. We are so happy that you two found each other. We had such a fun weekend celebrating your wedding and can't wait for the many memories yet to be made together.

favorites

Brother and sister. Just having a little breakfast.

This weather, that allows us to spend afternoons on the deck.
Trying a lime.
Picnics at the pool. We need the water to warm up a tiny bit before we actually swim. But he was definitely dressed the part.

Sleeping in his boxers "like a mans".
