April in Arkansas

Zane flew to Arkansas April 10th to spend a little extra time with our families. Our house was notably quiet without the rambunctious three year old bouncing off of the walls. We missed the little guy. Not so sure he missed us.

He might have been more excited about seeing Lola than anyone else. She slept with him every night. They really are best friends. Lola was probably his first word.

He enjoyed dressing up as a different character everyday. Here he is as 'Pirate Man Zane'. I think the entire third week he was 'Chief (as in Fire Chief) Zane 24/7. My favorite is that he went to Ed's Bakery in his Woody costume. Someone asked him if he was dressed as Woody. His answer: "No. I AM Woody!"

He also had fun being Cowboy Zane while in Hampton. He went to Hogskin Holidays and the rodeo.

Ten looong days later, Hollin and I flew to Arkansas. I felt like Superwoman getting both of us to the airport. I got up at 3:30am, drove both of us to the airport, parked, and unloaded. I then managed to get Hollin, the carseat, stroller, diaper bag, carry-on bag, and suitcase from the truck into the airport. In the rain. When American Airlines told me that my bag was (nine pounds) over 50 lbs I knew there was no way I was going back out to the truck to unload or rearrange. I just decided that I'd pay the extra money. I assumed it would be another $25. Let me just say that I was wrong. Very, very wrong. Wrong times four. There was absolutely nothing I could do other than pay the money and feel totally taken advantage of. BUT, I knew I would see my sweet baby boy in a few short hours, so I just let it go!

Flying with Hollin was once again a breeze. I was also blessed to sit by some extremely nice and helpful people.

A wedding post is coming soon....

seven months

What a joy! This little seven month old girl is still smiling! She's a squealer, a giggler, and a bubble blower. She's so happy that random people in the grocery store stop me to tell me how blessed I am to have such a sweet baby. But, I already knew that!

At seven months, Hollin:

*has two front, bottom teeth breaking through

*has eaten oatmeal, butternut squash, mango, avacado, and mum mums

*plays with a sippy cup of water while I'm feeding her solids. she's gotten much better at actually drinking some water out of it.

*wears 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers

*sticks out her tongue when she grins

*rolls more and pushes way up. she scooted a little the other day...backwards.

*is sitting up on her own better, but I still have to stay pretty close

*slept through the night once, but usually wakes up once or twice. She is great about eating and then going right back down

*takes a short morning nap and a one to three hour afternoon nap...usually closer to one hour than three

*rubs her eyes when she's sleepy. She also rolls her wrists around (same motion as knocking on a door). I've only noticed that she does this when I'm rocking her to sleep.

*is great at entertaining herself. She likes her playmat, baby einstien jumper, and the kickin' coaster. She has also started sitting in the chicco clip-on high chair. Now she can hang out in the kitchen while I'm getting Zane's lunch fixed, loading the dishwasher, etc. It's great!

*has started scratching everything, just like Zane did. These kids are very interested in textures.

*squeals and coos, but no 'words' yet

*gets SO excited when Zane gives her attention

Mother's Day

On this Mother's Day, I feel so blessed to hear him call me 'mommy'.

I've been blessed this year with another happy, healthy, beautiful baby.

I'm also lucky enough to have two wonderful mothers in my life.

My mom.

And my mother-in-law.

Happy Mother's Day!

Sick day

Hate that my baby girl is sick, but I sure have enjoyed my snuggle time. I spent most of last night and today rocking Hollin in her room. She's had a fever and been pretty pitiful. She would look up at me with her red cheeks and whimper, and that was all it took to convince me to hold her for ten more minutes (which somehow turned into two hours).

She's a sweet, sweet baby girl that hates to take medicine. But you know what the best medicine of all is? Something as simple as her big brother, her favorite person in the world, reaching over and holding her hand. She literally shrieked with happiness. One more pic. She was feeling a little better post-Tylenol. Praying for a better night's sleep and a healthy baby.

Girls just wanna have fun

A few (sensored) pictures from Amanda's bachelorette party! We had a fun little party at Nadia's house and then headed to the River Market in downtown Little Rock.

When we saw this hat, we knew that Amanda would love it! She's much more of a sparkly-pink-hat-girl than a tiara-girl. I sensored a few, um, embellishments on the hat to make this family friendly :)

Yummy food!

I had to add a sequined veil to the pink, sparkly hat and a bachelorette sash....but there's no embarrassing this girl!

The boys found us downtown, but I unfortunately did not get a picture of the groom-to-be. I did get some pictures with my groom, though!

What a fun start to a very memorable weekend!

Butternut squash

I love making baby food. Can't say that Hollin loved her first taste of it, but she did much better with her second attempt.

Cutest butternut squash-covered face ever!
